description

From concept to completion, I designed this as a space for contemporary artists to unify and share their individual narratives –  for artists and art lovers. This app functions as a learning space for all to learn about, share and support the stories of contemporary artists and their artworks.

I began developing this idea from a prompt: a virtual tour app for an art gallery. I began questioning why one might not have access to an art gallery. Why wouldn't they have access? What kind of art gallery? Is it a museum with historic pieces or a studio gallery with contemporary artists selling living artists’ work? What users are interested in a contemporary studio gallery? Why might a user use a virtual tour app instead of going in person? Is the goal of the art gallery to sell work or to promote artists? How do the art gallery’s values fall in terms of revenue, networking, publicity, etc.? Is the goal of the app to drive more sales or promote community? Is the art gallery brick-and-mortar or digital-only?

What does the user benefit from visiting an art gallery? How might we make that benefit easier to achieve for all users, all bodies?
