description

My team worked with our internal communications to develop a holiday theme for both internal and external recipients. Out of three core concepts, we landed on Restoration, a concept based on the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing.

Restoration

The Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is a method of mindful exploration in a nature setting (specifically around trees). Studies show that shinrin-yoku leads to improved mental wellbeing and reduced stress.

This time of year offers notable moments for reflection and restoration about the year behind and the year ahead. This concept features forest bathing experiences from executives and employees combined with an inspirational voiceover and invitation to do the same.

This concept was inspired by a blog post from Jenny, regarding her affinity for campus and lakeside walks.

we gather together

Every culture has gathering moments at this time of year. We celebrate, commemorate, remember and reflect. The reinvigoration of our brand is one of this year's major accomplishments. This concept leans heavily on employee images and footage to celebrate moments when colleagues gather together all around the world. Also making a special appearance is the Mobius, a key brand feature.

Considerations:
We would focus on intimate moments of togetherness, heavily showcasing gatherings of our UL Solutions teams. We leverage the circle element to highlight and hone in on those singular moments.
– Digital PDF for printing the mobius frame
– Pop-out mobius keepsake photo frame
– Window element to product photo frame

what's your tradition

Not everyone celebrates this time of year in the same way. And that’s what makes it beautiful. We invite UL Solutions employees to share their holiday traditions through photo and video. Show us how to make your favorite holiday dish. Scan in grandma’s eggnog recipe. We also invite employees to send in video with a singular holiday message, which can be spliced together.

Considerations:
We would leverage employee-submitted home videos or photography throughout the holiday theme, indicative of our diversity and year-end traditions. We'd utilize a top-down approach in still-life photography featuring natural circle elements that can support our traditions throughout the collateral.
– Site with library of new traditions, recipes or crafts to try
– Subtle callouts in home video showing UL Solutions presence
– Handwritten recipe insert in holiday card
– User submitted traditions
– Stop motion videos of employee recipes
